The Mildred Bayer Clinic for the Homeless began in 1984 through the vision and compassion of Mrs. Mildred Bayer who along with her husband’s associates, Dr Raymond Borer, received donated medical equipment and found room at a local homeless shelter to provide a free medical clinic two times a week.

The current location was purchased in 1994 and began serving the community’s homeless in January of 1995. In a ongoing effort to follow the mission and increase access to affordable quality health care, Mildred Bayer Clinic for the Homeless merged with Neighborhood Health Association January 2000.

NHA expanded the services of the homeless clinic with transportation services for the homeless, social services and case management, vision, dental services were expanded through volunteer professionals, and nurses went to the larger shelters to provide triage services and refer to Mildred Bayer. This service helps individuals maintain contact with their primary care doctor and maintain their medications for quality health.

Services are provided four days a week, Tuesday through Friday.
